ORAU welcomes Lehigh University as Sponsoring Institution

Oak Ridge, Tenn.—ORAU recently welcomed Lehigh University, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as its newest sponsoring institution during the recent 70th annual meeting of the ORAU Council of Sponsoring Institutions, held in Oak Ridge.

“We’re excited to have Lehigh University join ORAU’s growing consortium,” said ORAU President and CEO Andy Page. “As a research university ranked in the top 40 in the United States, I am excited to see how Lehigh and ORAU can work together to advance the education capabilities and opportunities of our consortium.”

ORAU has 115 members in more than 31 states ranging from Florida to Idaho and Pennsylvania to Nevada, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and England. ORAU was formed 68 years ago under the auspices of the Oak Ridge Institute for Nuclear Studies and originally consisted of 14 southern schools.

An ORAU sponsoring institution is a non-profit institution of higher learning granting doctoral degrees in multiple science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields; and ranks among the nation’s top research universities.

Founded in 1865, Lehigh University is located in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley and is in close proximity to both New York City and Philadelphia. A premier private residential research university, Lehigh has consistently ranked in the top tier of national research universities. It is regionally accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. With more than 6,900 students, the university consists of the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Economics, P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, and the College of Education.
