OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—ORAU employees Rebecca Crowe and Allen Wash were awarded the Advancing Professionals Awards from the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) during its 34th Annual Government Contract Management Symposium this week in Washington, D.C.

The NCMA Advancing Professionals Award (formerly the NCMA Top Professionals Under 40 in Contract Management Award) is designed to provide peer recognition to the rising stars and top performers in the contract management profession under the age of 40, according to the NCMA website. Those who receive this distinction come from academia, government and industry.

As Procurement and Contracts section manager and small business advocate at ORAU, Rebecca Crowe manages a team responsible for continuous improvement of seven critical procurement and contract systems that support operations of almost $400 million in contract actions (prime and sub) annually, terms and conditions research, reporting and all small business outreach.

“Rebecca constantly is looking for continuous improvement and is always willing to mentor others both in her organization and in the field of contract management,” ORAU Director of Procurement and Contracts Administration Heidi Timmerman said. “Not only is Rebecca a true professional in all aspects of contract management, but she also finds the time to be passionately involved in numerous activities to help her community, such as United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Men of Tomorrow and Knoxville Area Urban League Young Professionals—just to name a few.”

Allen Wash also was named an Advancing Professional. As a contract specialist at ORAU, “Allen is a dedicated professional who continuously demonstrates his ability to multi-task, solve problems, implement process improvements and provide amazing customer support,” said Timmerman. “He goes above and beyond to meet the needs of his program customers and encourages his customers to involve him early in the procurement process, resulting in a more efficient subcontracting process for all involved.”

Both Crowe and Wash are members of the East Tennessee Chapter of NCMA and have served in leadership roles within the organization.
