ORAU Extreme Classroom Makeover Contest

Annual competition awards more than $30,000 to area STEM educators for technological enhancements to classrooms

Students using computers in a high tech classroom

About the Contest

Would a classroom outfitted with $25,000 worth of interactive technology give a boost to young students trying to learn math and science in today’s increasingly high tech world? ORAU believes it would. And we’ve put our money where our mouth is.

This belief has become the foundation of the ORAU Extreme Classroom Makeover—a local competition awarding deserving STEM teachers with a room full of the latest educational technology.

Beginning this year we have expanded the contest to include teams of no more than two teachers. Both educators must teach a STEM subject and demonstrate a clear plan in their entry video regarding how they would share the technology.

To qualify, contestants must

  • teach a STEM subject for 3rd-10th grade
  • work for a public school located within 50 miles of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
  • submit a 3-4 minute video illustrating the need and potential uses of technology in their classrooms

For detailed information about the contest please review the contest guidelines.
