ORNL Intern Isaiah B

Isaiah B.

Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Research Focus:

“My research has exposed me to the technique of working at a distance through robotic ‘master-slave’ manipulators, which are devices guided by the hand of a human operator, to remotely move the hand of a robot or machine. The goal for me was to create an application to completely remotely operate a robotic arm by developing new controls in the master-slave robot manipulators.”

Experience Gained:

“Because of my internship at ORNL, I have picked up a skill set that is not typically taught to mechanical engineers. I can definitively say the knowledge and skills I have learned in my 10 weeks are going to show up in future projects and builds.”

Thoughts on Program:

“The resources and the types of challenges you will have exposure to, as well as the diverse population of world class researchers and engineers makes for an incredible learning experience.”
