This is a 1982 English translation of Keiji Nakazawa's "comic
book" story of his experiences as a child to the atomic bombing of
Hiroshima. The original black and white Japanese version, ,
first appeared in 1972. Not an easy read.
In 1973, Keiji Nakazawa expanded upon Ore Wa Mita in a series of weekly stories called Barefoot Gen that ran for a year and a half. Educomics intended to serialize the Barefoot Gen series in comic book format using the title Gen of Hiroshima but only two issues were ever produced. The first, shown here, came out in 1980. |
