Civil Defense Comic (1957-1960) |
|
|
| Since the copyright date of this
informational comic book about civil defense is 1957, it is probably
safe to assume that it was produced in the late 1950s. The protagonists,
Jim, Sally and their mother and father, are residents of disaster-prone
Centerville. Not the least of their problems is a threatened nuclear
attack. Al Capp's Li'l Abner only appears on the cover (lucky for
him).
At the back of the comic, there is a civil defense oriented crossword puzzle (e.g., what is an eight letter word for "640-1240 emergency broadcasting system" and a glossary (e.g., the definition of "fire storm.") |
