Kesselring Cold Cathode Tube (1905-1920) |
| Manufactured by the Kesselring X-ray Tube Company of Chicago Illinois and intended to be used with an induction (high frequency) coil. One very unusual feature of the tube is the fact that there is no electrical connection made between the anticathode and the anode. In fact, the anticathode lacks any type of electrical connector. | |
Another unusual feature is the small cone coming off the side of the anticathode facing the anode. Presumably, this helped shape the electric field between the cathode and anode so that the electrons from the cathode were directed towards the anticathode - this was necessary since the anticathode was not connected to the anode.
