This is an oil immersed x-ray tube for therapeutic use that was manufactured by Westinghouse. I have no specific information about the WL-395 and so I can only guess that it dates from the 1940s. The cathode employs a single large filament and the glass in front of the target has been ground down a little to reduce the attenuation of any low energy x-rays. It was probably designed for use between 150 and 200 kVp.
Size: ca. 20" long, 4" maximum diameter |
