| In terms of the tube
itself, there is nothing very remarkable about this Westinghouse Model
W-2249. It is a single focus tube with a square tungsten target embedded
in a copper head. What is somewhat unusual, at least to me, is the design
of the radiator seen at the right end of the tube in the top photo. Rather
that consisting of a series of thin copper plates that would maximize the
surface area, this radiator seems to be a block of a nickel coated
copper-zinc alloy with six holes drilled
through it.
Size: ca. 14" long (excluding radiator), 3 3/4" bulb diameter Donated by the University of Kansas courtesy of Michael Lemon |
