Air Sampling for Radioactive Materials Online Training Course
Online course introduces participants to methods of testing air for radionuclides
ORAU's Professional Training Programs (PTP) is now offering a new way to experience the traditional one-week Air Sampling for Radioactive Materials course that is offered at our training facilities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. We are now offering a blended course that contains both online and in-class training. The lecture materials will be delivered online via self-paced modules and webcasts. The laboratory exercises will be delivered in-class at the ORAU PTP training facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where we will employ safe distancing, smaller lab groups, and disinfection protocols.
Participants may sign up for the Online course (Option 1) or the Online course + In-class Laboratory Exercises course (Option 2).
This option greatly reduces the on-site presence of the participant and the costs of travel, lodging, and per diem, while presenting all of the great instructional topics and content you have come to expect.
The American Academy of Health Physics grants 24 Continuing Education Credits for completion of this course.
The use of radioactive materials in industry, research, and medicine has created a need for many facilities to perform routine air sampling in both the workplace and the environment. To help meet the need for trained personnel in this area, ORAU developed the – Air Sampling for Radioactive Materials – Online course. It is self-paced and can be completed as time allows. The course includes 14 modules. Upon successful completion of the exam, a course certificate of completion will be provided. Course materials are available on the ORAU PTP Learning Management System.
A list of the modules included in the course is provided below along with instructions about the registration process. This course is the equivalent of taking only the lecture component of the instructor-led course at the PTP training facility. PTP instructors will be available via email, phone, or Microsoft Teams to answer questions and provide assistance when needed.
This online course can be completed independently or as part of the new blended Air Sampling for Radioactive Materials course. If you are planning to complete the blended course, you must also complete the laboratory course. The full requirements for the blended course are listed below:
- Air Sampling for Radioactive Materials – Online
- Air Sampling for Radioactive Materials – Laboratory Exercises
This online course is designed for individuals with limited theoretical background and/or practical work experience who must establish and/or are involved with an air sampling program.
$1,197 – The tuition includes access to the course materials via the ORAU Learning Management System.
If you have additional questions about this course, please contact the Registrar.
