Justin Perusek selected to lead ORAU’s Belcamp, Maryland, office
BELCAMP, Md.—Justin Perusek has joined ORAU as the manager of the Belcamp, Maryland, office.
The Belcamp office, part of ORAU’s science education and national workforce development program, administers educational programs for more than 70 offices and agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense. In his new position, Perusek will supervise ORAU’s support to a wide-range of education, scholarship and research participation programs that support promising scientists at every academic level, from high school interns through postdoctoral researchers, visiting faculty and established senior scientists.
Perusek comes to ORAU with 23 years of management experience in the areas of combat engineering, logistics, military acquisition, project management and Six Sigma business operations. Just prior to his retirement from the Army last year, he managed logistics initiatives for the U. S. Army Forces Command. In earlier assignments, Perusek served in Copenhagen, Denmark, managing foreign military sales between the U.S. and the Royal Danish Army for the Office of Defense Cooperation; was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan as a military logistician; and served as a military science instructor and operations officer at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Perusek also has experience in private industry as a Sign Sigma Black Belt business service manager with General Electric. He most recently worked as a government contractor in support of Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg. Perusek began his new role with ORAU on July 31.
“Justin’s extensive experience in a wide range of roles with the Department of Defense will complement the proven capabilities already in place at our Belcamp office,” said Dave Duncan, Senior Vice President and Director, ORAU. “We are confident that Justin will deliver superior customer service to ORAU’s existing program sponsors and cultivate new relationships that leverage the Belcamp office to advance the scientific enterprise of the nation.”
Perusek holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master’s in public administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
