ORAU achieves ISO 14001:2015 recertification for commitment to protecting the environment

ORAU is proud to announce that it has achieved certification under ISO 14001:2015, an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. It provides a framework to protect the environment via minimizing environmental impacts, fulfilling compliance obligations, using a cradle-to-grave approach to product life cycle, and building trust with stakeholders through communication.

“We are pleased to achieve the prestigious ISO 14001:2015 certification, demonstrating ORAU’s commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Andy Page, ORAU president and CEO. “This certification validates our best practices in managing, monitoring and minimizing our impacts on the environment. It is an important accomplishment and the direct result of the commitment and hard work of the entire ORAU team.”

ORAU's environmental management philosophy emphasizes sustainability through recycling, waste minimization, green purchasing, and energy efficiency.

  • ORAU’s environmental management plan was a contributing factor to the organization’s successful ISO 14001 certification, which recognizes ORAU’s commitment to continuous improvement in pollution prevention, energy conservation and waste reduction. ORAU received ISO 14001 recertification through Jan. 21, 2026.
  • ORAU was recognized as an “Outstanding Green Achiever” by the GoGreenET’s Green Business Recognition Program that highlights Knoxville-area businesses and nonprofit organizations that engage in environmentally friendly business practices.
  • ORAU has been named among the winners of the Green Electronics Council’s Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Sustainable Purchaser Award since the award program’s inception in 2015.
