U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Research Associateship Program (RAP) applications are accepted throughout the year for Postdoctoral Fellows and Senior Fellows. Applications for Short-Term Fellows and Journeyman Fellows may be submitted throughout the year, however applicants are encouraged to submit applications by April for consideration for the current year. U.S. Citizenship is required.

JOURNEYMAN FELLOW:

Complete and submit the online application form. The following will also be uploaded with the online application:

  • Resume - please list all papers, presentations, or publications you may have authored or co-authored. Include a any reprints or abstracts if they are available.
  • Transcripts - Transcript verifying receipt of Degree/or identifying current enrollment. Original student copies are acceptable.
  • References - You will receive an email containing a link to forward to persons familiar with your educational and/or professional qualifications. Please include your academic advisor (if applicable), and current/prior employers. Personal references are NOT acceptable.
  • One page proposal (one or two paragraphs)
    • Explain why you chose this research topic, including preparation and motivation.
    • Research Topic should relate to a specific Journeyman opportunity at ARL

SUMMER STUDENT EXPERIENCE FELLOWS:

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW:

  • Curriculum Vitae
    • List by title non-published works including doctoral thesis
    • List by titles published works (Include journal/article name and location
  • Five- to Seven-Page Proposal
    • Research topic should relate to a specific opportunity at ARL (see Research Areas)
    • The objective of the research topic should be clear and have a defined outcome
    • Explain the direction you plan to pursue
    • Include expected period for completing the study
    • Include a brief background such as preparation and motivation for the research
    • References of published efforts may be used to improve the proposal
  • Three References Forms
    • An email with a link to the reference form will be emailed to the applicant upon completion of the on-line application. Please send this email to persons you have selected to complete a reference.
    • References should be from persons familiar with your educational and professional qualifications (include your thesis or dissertation advisor, if applicable)
  • Transcripts
    • Transcript verifying receipt of postdoctoral degree must be submitted with the application. Student copy is acceptable.

SENIOR FELLOW:

Complete and submit the online application. The following will also be uploaded with the online application:

  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae (include list of any papers, presentations, or publications)
  • Research Proposal (As identified under the Postdoctoral Fellowship Requirements)

SHORT-TERM FELLOW:

REVIEW PANEL

The complete application and supporting materials will be submitted to the ARL Review Committee. Incomplete applications may not be considered. Additional information may be required if an appointment is offered.
